Concept Nine:
All elements of
our service structure have the responsibility to carefully
consider all viewpoints in their decision-making processes.
The ninth
concept reminds us that our selfless service to others requires
that all viewpoints be considered. We need to seek out and
listen open-mindedly to all available viewpoints during our
decision-making processes in order to make a true group
conscience decision.
That lone voice
which often quietly says, "What about this..?" can often save
the committee from stepping outside the limits of our concepts
and traditions. That single voice which says, "Why don’t we try
this..?" can sometimes lead to exciting new possibilities for
the committee. It is the chairperson’s responsibility to include
those voices in the discussion.
